A radiosonde is a radio engineering instrument that is raised into the atmosphere on a freely flying balloon used to measure the geographical position and physical quantities that characterize the state of the atmosphere at different heights (temperature-humidity-wind sounding) and transmit telemetry information to a ground tracking station. The instruments are equipped with sensors of meteorological parameters and a radio transmitter. Radiosondes are designed to operate in difficult conditions with significant temperature and pressure differences, and they are single-use instruments. High requirements are placed on the accuracy and reliability of radiosonde measurements. The instruments are certified.
